Genesis of genius

Two things were clear from reading the first issue I bought, in 2009. One, that Motorcycle Classics magazine was (and remains) in a league of its own, and two, that I would become a subscriber very soon after reading it, which I did. It’s a very fine piece of work. I eagerly await each issue which never fails to deliver a great deal of enjoyment. I’d never read the first issue, so I was intrigued to discover how it started. The fact that the basic format remains the same is evidence that founding editor Richard Backus got it right straight out of the box.
The quality of the journalism, the photographs and content leaves nothing to be desired. I live in England, and I enjoy reading a transatlantic view of a particular motorcycle. The articles always have depth, are informative and perceptive. There’s always something to of particular interest to me in each issue. More than just articles on motorcycles. There’s more to enjoy too, through the destination articles I discover more about America. The difference between our use of English always interests me. “The Skinny”. Tells it how it is. I suppose we would say, “the bare bones”, or “the nitty gritty “. So the magazine educates as well as entertains! I particularly enjoy the Under the Radar section., comparing one motorcycle with alternatives; often ones which I wouldn’t have thought of. The technical help offers the reader the experience of someone who has actually done the particular job. It’s the best there is on the news stands. Well done chaps!
